About

Mainifesto is an independent English-language magazine exploring architecture, interiors, product design, technology and design culture. Founded and edited by Francesc Gasch, it brings a designer’s perspective to the ideas, objects and spaces shaping everyday life.

We look beyond the finished image: how something is made, whose needs it serves, which materials it uses and what it asks of the world around it. Our interest lies in the relationship between creative ambition and its consequences, from the scale of a small object to the places we inhabit.

Francesc Gasch is a Barcelona-based designer whose practice connects craftsmanship with contemporary production. Working closely with artisans and drawing on manufacturing traditions in Catalunya and Europe, he explores the possibilities shared by hand-making and digital tools. Prototypes, practical testing and attention to detail are central to that work.

His approach considers both the personal experience of an object and its wider environmental and social impact. Local production, thoughtful use of resources and lasting quality inform a practice that values objects designed to remain useful and meaningful over time.

His work has received recognition including two Bronze Delta Awards in 2024, for the Sandle Candleholder and Traveller Lamp, and a winning place in the 2025 Muuto Design Contest with Waves Vases. His projects have also been presented at Milan Design Week and the Lake Como Design Festival.

A magazine shaped by design practice

Mainifesto extends this curiosity into an editorial space. We are interested in what design makes possible, but also in its tensions: innovation and longevity, technology and craft, visual impact and genuine usefulness. The magazine is a place for questions and informed opinions, not simply a catalogue of new products.

What we publish

Our articles range from responses to current design and architecture stories to critical essays, speculative concepts and thematic selections. For current-affairs coverage, selected sources provide context for our own editorial criteria, analysis and opinions; the corresponding source is identified where applicable. Speculative ideas are opportunities to think through possibilities, rather than claims that every concept already exists.

Editorial responsibility

Editorial direction and responsibility sit with Francesc Gasch. Artificial intelligence may assist with text, imagery, narration and video, while our Editorial & AI Policy sets out the publication’s standards. Videos published on Mainifesto Magazine’s YouTube channel accompany their corresponding articles.
